Spring Planting and Planning
Spring is finally here! Granted, I did see some Instagram posts about some snow in the PNW that, thankfully, skipped over us here in Grays Harbor. Still, it's quite cold. A few weeks ago, despite the stormy weather, I popped out into the garden to pull weeds and plant...
OH HI!
Oh Hi Handpies started as an idea to bring more seasonality to the way we eat and highlight local food. Originally launched as a cottage industry hand pie baking business, we are turning things on their head and restarting!
The mission and goal remains the same, to highlight local food, make better choices about how we consume food and everything else so that it makes a lighter impact on the environment, and finding joy and friendship through it all.
Now, I’d like to teach you how to make your own handpies at home, about the seasonality of food in the PNW and about growing your own delicious fruits and veggies in your home garden or supporting local farmers.
I’m Britta, and I started this business in 2019 and we’re ready for a reinvention in 2023. Based in Aberdeen, Washington, I’m here to share more about what I’ve learned about local food and our region as well as the entire Pacific Northwest (and maybe beyond!).

5 Family Friendly Comfort Meals for Fall
Kabocha Squash Shrimp This is one of my favorite comfort meals which I only recently discovered. Since my mother-in-law is from the Philippines, my husband was raised on filipino cooking and I've also become accustomed to eating many dishes I was only made of aware of...
Our DIY Organic Mattress! Where we bought it and how we put it together.
We have A NEW BED! I'm so excited about it since it feels like something we've been talking about for more than a year. Our queen size mattress was causing us all kinds of back aches and I was pretty disappointed by the life span of it, considering the expense of it...
